Kip, if you have the time and energy, it would be _extremely_ interesting 
to us to know whether the 'linuxthreads' implementation on FreeBSD 
suffers from the same problems that it does under Linux for your 
application.  I realise that there's a lot of work involved in testing 
this, but the upside is that it may result in FreeBSD becoming an even 
better platform for Lyris...
