No, I had only:

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device     "Card0"
        Monitor    "Monitor0"
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth     24
        EndSubSection
EndSection

Which only defines one colour depth.

I've added DefaultDepth which works great. :)
