Check out Amanda, in the ports collection.  It's a pretty sophisticated, 
very configurable backup system.  It's primarily meant to back LARGE 
numbers of network hosts and network file systems to a single (or 
multiple) high-capacity tape drive, and as such may be a bit complex for 
your needs, but it might work.  It's worth a look anyway, I suppose.
