Help!

BACKGROUND: I had a dual boot machine running Win98 & RedHat Linux. I =
was introduced to linux 9 months ago. I tried several other =
distros...didn't like them. I tried OpenBSD - loved it...only, not =
enough software ported. So, I tried FreeBSD 3.4.

PROBLEM: Network. I have a cable modem, and am using a 3C905B ethernet =
adapter. Everything works fine in Win98 (and worked fine in RedHat). I =
use DHCP. The exact problem is that in FreeBSD, I can not ping anything =
outside the Cable Co.'s LAN (i.e. I can ping the Name Server, the =
Gateway, The DHCP server, etc; but not, say, 129.237.125.112 [an ip # of =
a computer I happen to know out on the internet], or www.yahoo.com .). =
I should also point out that I don't have any idea how to configure a =
network card in FreeBSD. =20

QUESTIONS: can someone please give me very precise instructions on how =
to configure DHCP & what things to check in troubleshooting? Is it =
easier to configure during install (It didn't work for me; so I'm locked =
into using /stand/sysinstall...Configure...Network...Network =
Interfaces...'no' to 'assume network already configured'...'yes' to 'try =
configuring with DHCP')?Direct me to some informative man =
pages/HOWTO's/tutorials...? I am not afraid to edit a config file by =
hand...just don't know what file to edit, or what to put in it.
