OK, I just installed FreeBSD 4.2 on my old machine. Everything looks fine during the boot process, until it gets to "Mounting / on UFS:", where it just hangs. The machine is a 486/33, 20 MB RAM, 4.0 GB IDE hard drive, 48x IDE CD-ROM drive. My question is this: Would the fact that the hard drive is too large for the BIOS to properly address cause this hang? I have run other OSes on this box that have been able to access the whole drive, basically by bypassing the BIOS and accessing it directly through the controller. How can I get FreeBSD to do the same. Thanks for any help, MP To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
