You need to label the 'disk.' (Remeber a DOS partition is a FreeBSD slice, and that FreeBSD partitions live in one slice.) See 'man disklabel.' In a sense, FreeBSD treats a slice like a whole disk. Think about how you might want to repartition your disk. -- Crist J.
