After booting into the system, local mail was not working and I was unable = to root@my-test-mach:~ # ping `hostname` ping: cannot resolv my-test-mach: Host name lookup failure This causes all local mail to fail, /var/spool/mqueue just fills up. perio= dic scripts therefore don't populate root's mail.
