I have a 313 meg ESDI drive connected to a WD1007A-WA2 controller that I should probally drop off a building. But, I am trying to install freebsd on it. I get one of two problems when attempting to boot: a) bootblock prompt but it "Can't find /kernel" and "Can't find ?" b) F1 BSD, press <F1>, F1 BSD, ad infinitum The drive in question is 1224/15/35 native, or the controller bios suggests 636/16/63 in translated sector mode. I presently have everything installed and it mounts just dandy but can't boot to save its life. Disk is dedicated to freebsd, I selected the "Dedicated" choice on install. pfdisk notes that start (0,0,1) should be (0,1,1). I was trying to do everything only with native disk numbers but that didn't work. Should I enable translation, reformat, reinstall, and then cry when it still doesn't work? -j
