They also offered to provide maintainance for a yearly fee. There is no FreeBSD version of Fortran 95: I guess if no one buys it, we can expect this tendency to continue :(. I did learn FORTRAN in the University, however the teacher insisted on not teaching structured programming: the nice thing about FORTRAN 77. I am pretty sure FORTRAN is still widely used, I even have some code from an IEEE magazine somewhere, but at least in my school FORTRAN died with VM/CMS.
