I installed the xe-guest-utilities port, and ran up 
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/xenguest.

Without changing anything - XenServer has now 'lit' the 'Suspend' options - 
and will let me take snapshots, 'including memory' - so I'd guess it's 
worked,
