I found a more elegant way of doing this, thanks to google on my 7.3 = system. I added: ldconfig_paths=3D"/usr/lib/compat /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/local/lib = /usr/local/lib/compat/pkg" to rc.conf and rebooted (I couldn't shutdown to single user then exit as = I don't have physical access at the moment).
