Problem Report i386/29792 has the same problem (under 4.3). Kris Kennaway said: "Unfortunately I doubt any of the committers have a matcd device any more to test this. If it's not user error, or a generic bug in FreeBSD which effects other devices, I don't think there's much chance of this getting fixed."
