Look into bb (Big Brother) in the ports. Beside making a nice webpage with red, yellow and gren "leds", depending on status of connections, system loads, and availability of different services (pop, http, ftp, smtp etc), it can also send messages to a pager or a cellphone. I received sms's on my cellphone 14 days after I left the company...
