I just did an installation of FreeBSD 5.2-RELEASE, and found that after installation my package database is empty (running `pkg_info' shows no packages). I did a base install, and then checked things like 'Ssh server'. This obviously installed the ssh server, but I'm now wondering how I can ever decently upgrade my ssh server without having to manually remove each file (to avoid conflicts). Using portupgrade or pkg_delete won't deinstall the currently installed package... I noticed this behaviour before on a FBSD51 machine, where I checked 'Configure interface using DHCP' when installing and later installed the net/isc-dhcp3 port (because I needed dhcpd). This left me with 2 installations of dhclient, one in /sbin and one in /usr/local/sbin. Running pkg_info didn't show (the first) dhclient. With that installation I thought it was my own fault, since installation didn't go too smooth, but this last installation did. cheers Rob p.s.: If you're going to reply by email, please give me a few days to respond. I don't have a client up and running yet. >How-To-Repeat: Install FreeBSD. >Fix: Have installation update the package database. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted:
