otoh I think that removing COMPAT_43 is a nice thing so I'd advocate a compromise:

instead
options         COMPAT_43               # Compatible with BSD 4.3 [KEEP THIS!]

just
options         COMPAT_43               # Compatible with BSD 4.3

because no significat subsystem is dependant on that and it brings some performance
benefits for people (note that MOST of the people keep the options only because
of the KEEP THIS! commet)
