     Platform:
       ALR 486DX-33 EISA FAST SCSI-2 16MEG SONY CDU-33A CDROM @ 0x320

     Observation:
Despite an entry in /etc/fstab for the CDROM, the system will NOT
automount the CDROM. su'ing to root and entering <mount /cdrom>
will mount the CDROM, and, thereafter, the device works fine?!

I have noticed that on boot up, when a list of devices roll
across the screen, that the CDROM (scd0) is NOT among the devices
     on the list.
