But one thing that might help in the future is SoftUpdates+Snapshots. See the online handbook Section 17.14: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/snapshots.html You can take a daily snapshot, and if you accidentally delete a file... mount the snapshot, and recover it.
