Hi all, considering the de driver support for the "new" 21140A chip is kinda in BETA still, here's a quick report: We tested two computers with the abovesaid NICs in an isolated network. In between was a 3Com intelligent (non-passive) 100BaseTX hub. The OS used was FreeBSD 2.2 with the de patch obtained from ftp://ftp.irbs.com/pub/FreeBSD. I used netperf with the default scripts, as well as my own little bandwidth testing program (similar to tcpblast). We acheived a maximum performance of 82Mbits/sec using packet and buffer sizes of 16384bytes. (With various packet and buffer sizes, performance varied quite a bit, as expected). We'll be upgrading to 100BaseTX soon, so I'll keep everyone updated of any problems (cross my fingers). :) Cheers. Len.
