I helped a small farm of Linux mail hosts using ICP Vortex RAID
controllers about two years ago. The results were excellent and
I have since thought very highly of ICP Vortex. I think its a bad
sign when a vendor makes a real effort to support open systems and
ends up losing badly. However, this is news to me and I'd appreciate
any references or inside information about this you can provide.

ICP Vortex seemed to make real effort to see open platforms had
decent drivers. I also remember that nearly all of the RAID
functionally was built-in to the firmware, which dodged the common
issue of "windows only" RAID administration tools.
