Yes, we had a nice talk from BSDCon with info on this but after the site was discovered by the slashdot crowd management asked that it be removed. FreeBSD was not the issue it was some statements about network / backbone topology. Anyway, we use a single mail-storage box on a beefy RAID with redundant power RAID controllers etc. Then we proxy POP and IMAP from front-end servers, it's very similar to the Net App solution but avoids NFS. We use this in some of our larger remote sites. ( We are so distributed it's sick, this also caused great confusion with the slides, the reason is FCC regulations ) We have used Net Apps in the past both remotely and in our NOC and have plans to do so in the future for some mail storage.
