First off, Iam a scsi newbie under FreeBSD, used for the last 3 years fbsd as workstation and as server with IDE devices only. These are mine scsi hd's: da0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 da0: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device da0: 10.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, offset 15) da0: 2069MB (4238282 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 263C) da1 at ahc0 bus 0 target 1 lun 0 da1: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device da1: 10.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, offset 15), Tagged Queueing Enabled da1: 3118MB (6385696 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 397C) da2 at ahc0 bus 0 target 5 lun 0 da2: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device da2: 10.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, offset 15), Tagged Queueing Enabled da2: 3118MB (6385696 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 397C) This is the controller: ahc0: port 0x6000-0x60ff mem 0xe4000000-0xe4000fff irq 15 at device 8.0 on pci0 aic7860: Ultra Single Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 3/253 SCBs The hardware before i got it was used for win 3.11 and 95, it worked fine then and now. After my first manualy /etc/periodic/weekly/310. the message bellow rolled into the console and into /var/log/messages: (da1:ahc0:0:1:0): SCB 0x9 - timed out ahc0: Dumping Card State in Message-in phase, at SEQADDR 0x1b1 ACCUM = 0xc0, SINDEX = 0x3, DINDEX = 0x8c, ARG_2 = 0x0 HCNT = 0x0 SCBPTR = 0x1 SCSISEQ = 0x12, SBLKCTL = 0x0 DFCNTRL = 0x0, DFSTATUS = 0x29 LASTPHASE = 0xe0, SCSISIGI = 0xe6, SXFRCTL0 = 0x88 SSTAT0 = 0x7, SSTAT1 = 0x3 STACK == 0x15a, 0x0, 0xf9, 0xfb SCB count = 250 Kernel NEXTQSCB = 48 Card NEXTQSCB = 246 QINFIFO entries: 246 -- SNIP -- After i put the Adaptec card and the drives into the compaq system it came out in the first place, i wasn't able to reproduce the error/debug output. I don't know anything about the scsi subsystem of fbsd, let alone howto debug the error output, only of those ide controllers and devices under fbsd i can handle. Iam using this scsi hardware setup to handle my www. .org server (no highprofile) for safety iam using the compaq now as www. server (it's just a plain p133mhz plus 32mb, it works fine) Is this (error)/output something i should worry about? vj.
