Here's a couple of steps to help us both out:

See if Linux can mount it's own NFS shares.
What is the exact error FreeBSD install spits out with the install?
What does the FreeBSD install debug console say?
(hit atl+f2 to see it, alt+f1 to get back)
Any messages in the Linux boxes's log files?
The exact steps you used to export the NFS share on the Linux box
(although that'll be more help to people who know Linux)

thanks,
-Alfred
