I just compiled up the port of makeindex, and it doesn't sort the
index in the correct order (specifically, it sorts all capital letters
before all lowercase letters).
I don't know whether this is a problem in the root package or in the
porting, and I didn't bother to figure it out, because an older
version of makeindex was included in the tarfile, and that compiled
right up and worked fine.
Just thought the report might help...
