Hi,

Your suggestion to try the 'Safe Mode' was very good indeed, as it
allowed to pass the disk mounting stage. I found a more long-term
solution by setting hint.apic.0.disabled=1 in /boot/loader.conf.

But this is not sufficient to make FreeBSD boot, I also have to:

* disable the front USB panel, and one of the two rear USB panels
  in the BIOS otherwise the keyboard and mouse do not work

* unplug the mouse during the boot, otherwise keyboard and mouse
  do not work. I plug it in again once entering user-land

Other useful info:

* For the graphics card, I'm satisfied with the "vesa" driver.
* I was lucky with the netword card as "bfe0" was detected right
  on install

Things that are not working:

* No sound
* No CD/DVD support

I also have a very annoying problem: when I run Xorg, the mouse
freezes every 5 minutes, I have to unplug it. As soon as I plug
it in again, mouse moves freely. I tried with another mouse, same
problem. Restarting Xorg does not help. Restarting moused
either.

Any idea to solve the USB mouse problem would be more than
helpful. You will find attached the dmesg output, just in case.
I've heard about a [1]USB patch, do you think it can be useful for
my problem?

        Note: I was using FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE, and upgraded to
        6.2-PRERELEASE (checked out from RELENG_6) but that didn't
        change anything.

Thanks in advance,
