Why do You mean, "having hylafax working under i4b" would not be a good 
solution?

If I understood right, You are on the way to port the CAPI extension of 
hylafax to c4b (CAPI for BSD). So this would be a good solution, imho.

Or is hylafax such a bad program? Sorry, I just know that it exists...
