However, it doesn't want to work with 4.0-RELEASE. It seems to detect it just fine, but when I try to play anything to it (via mpg123 or cat foo.au > /dev/audio) I don't get any sound. The mixer seems to work, as I can play a CD in the DVD-ROM drive and mess with the levels. anduril:1> cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Apr 18 2000 14:30:35 Installed devices: pcm0: at irq 11 (1p/1r channels duplex) Here's the output of dmesg (during a verbose boot): csa0: mem 0xf4000000-0xf40fffff,0xf4100000-0xf4100fff irq 11 at device 5.0 on pci0 pcm0: on csa0 pcm0: ac97 codec id 0x43525903 pcm0: ac97 codec features headphone, 18 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, 6 bit master volume, pcm: setmap bc3e000, 1000; 0xc0cca000 -> bc3e000 pcm: setmap bc23000, 1000; 0xc0ccf000 -> bc23000 Seigo Tanimura, suggested to someone else in a similiar situation to try probing mss.
