The only change I made was changing my driver from "nv" to "mga" in my XF86Config file. Everything seems at first blush to be running fine - this is 4.3-STABLE running XFree86 4.03 and KDE 2.1. This was astoundingly easy... Is there some step I missed that will come back to haunt me later? I don't know if there's some specific procedure to swapping out video cards. Yep, I'm being paranoid.
