I will be thank full to u You've already found this mailing list and it seems to be full of FreeBSD related information. :) Okay, here's a walkthrough. When you boot from the FreeBsd install CD, you will get a brief prompt to: Skip the kernel configuration and continue with the installation Start the kernel configuration in full-screen visual mode Start the kernel in CLI mode. The default entry is to Skip the kernel configuration. I'm assuming you've been choosing the default. That's not a good idea on the initial install. Choose the option to configure the kernel in full-screen. At the top of the screen will be a list of Active Drivers and the number of Conflicts that would result from installing all the drivers. All the drivers are listed on collapsed lists: Storage: Network: Communications: Input: Multimedia: Miscellaneous: Use the arrow keys to highlight "Storage:" and press "Enter" The list will open up and will show you the drivers to support all sorts of drives/controllers you are quite unlikely to have in any machine at the same time. Storage: You don't have any SCSI drives so remove the assorted SCSI card drivers from the Storage list. Leave the two ata drivers. If you only have one floppy drive, leave fd0 and remove FD1 from the Storage list. Network: You don't have a network. Remove all network drivers. Communication: Leave Communications alone. Input: Leave Input alone. Multimedia: Multimedia is usually empty. If it is not empty, leave it alone. Miscellaneous: You don't have a PCMCIA (PCCard) bus so remove PCCard support from the Miscellaneous list. Leave everything else alone. Save the changes and exit. The installation will continue and list all the hardware it finds (or believes it found) on your system and then it will show you the Main Menu. You should be able to take it from there! If it still bombs out after removing the dross from the initial installation then something else is wrong. The folks at http://www.freebsd.org have everything you need for more information or you can send more question to this list. Good luck! -3P To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
