I am using FreeBSD-3.0-current and the driver should compile with
FreeBSD-2.0 not sure about 2.1.x...

Make sure that you copy brooktree848.c and brktree_reg.h to /sys/pci

I don't see any METEOR_GEO_DEV3 over here.
