It probably wants Perl5.  Realize that releng22 doesn't have the packages
trees; if you want them you'll have to get them from the tree or the CD.

This is correct.  Most people rename perl to perl4 and add a symlink from
/usr/bin/perl to /usr/local/bin/perl.
