Thanks for your prompt reply, it is intresting and somewhat informative, BUT
;^( my ADSL modem has only two leads 1)the phone socket and 2) the USB
Port - I could have ordered a router BUT this would have cost me approx £100
per month - which is a daylight robbery!

So you see I don't see how to configure the FreeBSD box to use this modem.
Or perhaps I can use the W2K box as a router? of some sort....

Or maybe there are hubs which have USB ports that I can attach this modem
to?
