First of all, are you still the maintainer?

Second, I've been baffled of late by my Exabyte 8500 SCSI-tapestreamer,
which worked under the Operating System from Hell, but not under Linux
nor under FreeBSD.

It turned out that one of the terminators was installed upside-down.

Some note in the handbook that this is possible and not right would be
nice, but perhaps a translation about these kernel messages:

I could find no hint about clearing fifos anyywhere, and I still don't
really know  what they are. I care a lot less, now that everything
works, though!
