Follow-up: yes, that works.  The path is (no wrap):

ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-4.6-release/x11-toolkits/linux-gtk-1.2_1.tgz

(I'll try to put together a summary of how to set up linux-mozilla in
another post.)
