People should realize that the nature of the Windows operating system need not necessarily be a direct result of its being closed-source. poor planning, poor architecture, poor implementation, time constraints, poor management may all be contributing factors to the development of a 'crappy product'. Any open-source project could very well be in the same sad shape as Windows with the same issues at hand. I have seen many open source projects which sucks far *worse* than windows. The XFree86 project is close, but not quite as bad. (Not to knock XF86, it is alright, it just sucks -- no shame, it's all good brotha.) > > > The BSD license is less stress for Bill Gates or Cupertino. > > > > That is a Good Thing(tm). I think we can do much more for everybody if we focus on doing the best we can for everything. Idealistic thinking, I know, but look at how far the FreeBSD project has come based on these same ideals. Rather than focusing energy on 'destroying' proprietary (or commercial) software, we can dedicate that energy to being productive. I could spend just as much time beating you with a stick as I could developing a better product. Guess which one I would rather do? (Yes, beat you with a stick -- where 'you' is any random Bad Guy -- but that is not the point. It would be Far Better for me to be productive.) > > David gh -- > What, no one sings along with Ricky Martin anymore?
