As far as I know, AWS didn't communicate the discontinuation of the v1. Ind=
eed,
it continues to release patches on the v1 (c.f.
https://github.com/aws/aws-cli/tags).

As AWS currently maintains the AWS CLI v1, it seems essential to allow Free=
BSD
users to choose between both versions.
