This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------6DC1AC32090 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear Sirs, I was surfing the web and came across your site. The first thing that came to my mind is, "What a great site for Site Launch!" My company has brought a new and innovative way for Internet site owners and Webmasters to get real honest feedback on their site. It is called Site Launch. ( http://www.go2pa.com/sitelaunch ) Having an Internet site is only have the job. Like planting grass seed in the Arctic, you may have done the job but nothing will come of it if you are not delivering, to your clients, the information that they need. We have Internet users from all over come in and evaluate sites. We are currently taking reservations for our next launch. But, before I get into that let me explain the application. We feature up to 9 different sites for a two week period. We have, as I said earlier, users come in and evaluate the sites that we feature. You may be wondering, how do we entice users to give site evaluations? Well, we have found the best way is to offer cash!! We give away $100 per site to a randomly selected user. We are currently offering this service for only $150!!! $100 goes as prize money and the remainder covers our costs to compile the complete report for you. As I said we are currently taking reservations for our upcoming missions. We even still have a slot open for our nest mission that starts on April 8, 1996. I can reserve a seat for you on that mission. All I need is a fax number so that I can fax you the agreement for Site Launch. It, the agreement, basically says we are not responsible for the contents of your site and that you agree to supply the $150. We in turn agree to feature you for a period of 2 weeks and compile the complete report for you. Lastly, I have attached a file that is from a company that has reviewed our Site Launch page and has chosen us as their "Site of the Week." Please read their review and visit our page. I look forward to you becoming a Site Launch "astronaut" and benefiting from the feed back that you will receive by featuring your Internet site on "Site Launch." Sincerely, Shawn P Ewer Capt. Well okay... if not together exactly, at least closer. Most browser buffs probably feel the same about commercial sites as they do about advertising on television. Site-Launch makes visitors to their page an offer they can't refuse...namely money. The concept is simple and effective. Site-Launch features up to 9 commercial Web sites in any given period and offers surfers a chance at winning cash prizes in exchange for completing a 3 minute review of one or more of the commercial sites featured.
The graphical theme of Site-Launch is Star Wars/space-age and the textual approach maintains the overall theme. Here's a few pics and an excerpt (from one of the Site-Launch pages) to give you an idea of the site's flavor:

"Welcome, we currently have 7 active orbital stations, which means this mission (SL200-R11) is worth $600 dollars and a Weekend for 2 ($250.00 Value) in the Poconos. The misison began with lift-off on Monday March 25, 1996 and will continue until touchdown at 11:30 P.M. EST on Sunday April 7th, 1996.
To begin, just dock on one of the orbital stations below. Each station this period is worth $100.00. To register for a chance at the cash, just explore the orbital station and complete the quick 3 minute re-entry de-briefing. For each station you dock at, explore and complete the de-briefing, you have a chance to win a $100 dollar cash prize."

So we know that Site-Launch visitors can win cash in exchange for 3 minutes of their valuable time...but what's in it for Site-Launch and the sites they host? Shucks, this is what I like about the whole concept. Everyone benefits! Commercial sites pay Site-Launch a fee for featuring their sites and, in return, they receive valuable feedback in the form of a full report which includes visitor comments and suggestions.
Marketing services and products on the Web is similiar but not exactly the same as traditional media marketing. For example, a Web site may look graphically terrific but does anyone actually stick around long enough to see all those great pics load. And what about target markets? If your site appeals to seniors and your target is teenagers, then you have a problem. So whose the best judge of what makes a Web site effective, interesting, appealing, etc. ? You guessed it....you are!
Site-Launch Pros:

Great concept. Everyone benefits.

Nice intro page and the theme is appealing.

Visitors get to be critics for 3 minutes.

The review forms are straightforward and can easily be completed in 3 mins. You're done before you get bored.

A source for finding cool & interesting sites. Yes, some commercial sites ARE cool & interesting and, with the feedback provided by Site-Launch, many more will be.

And last, but certainly not least, you can win CASH!

Site-Launch Cons:
Can't really think of any. I mean, it would be petty to demand bigger cash prizes. Right?
Conclusion: The concept implemented by Site-Launch is an important first step in making Web sites truly effective vehicles for information delivery. I hope the idea becomes popular and that companies see the need for this kind of feedback. Now go visit Site-Launch...a great site with a great concept.

Previous Winners of the Jayde Site of the Week Award

 HomePage

--------------6DC1AC32090--
