Hey there,
	If you are using COM1 then you should not use either.
try port /dev/sio0 (in freebsd).  If you are using another operating
system (which looks to me is linux) you would need to either use
/dev/cuaa0 or /dev/ttyS0.  That is unless I am missing some more important
piece of data I am not understanding.
