i used to use mplayer without a problem but i just upgraded it and now have problems--it doesnt work. i can play audio files wiht xmms, but if i try to use mplayer i get an error "Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound." If i use gmplayer, it also doesnt work (same error) but i fooled around and saw that if i go to the Preferences configuration, and the Audio tab, and select the "oss" driver, it works. (Only for that sesssion, if i start it up again it doesnt work). How do i get this set up to work properly. i didnt see anything in /usr/ports/UPDATING and i didnt change anything (nothing intentional anyway) that would make things stop. Thanks!
