I ran a search for this kind of error, I found a post from someone with a similar problem under solaris, his recomendation was to remove (or moved them to a different directory) all files named assert.h but the one in /usr/include/ and I think that is the only one in FreeBSD 5.0, I ran a search and couldn't find any more but the ones in /src which I think should not affect anything.
