I recently switched from a Matrox Millenium II 8M PCI card to a Diamond Viper V770 Ultra (TNT2 Ultra chipset), and honestly can't see a difference in image quality (I'm running at 1600x1200 w/ 16bpp and have been for as long as I can remember... several years). And I considered the Matrox card one of the better 2D cards around when I bought it. My monitor is a Viewsonic PT813. Makes me wonder if there's a Windows driver issue (I don't have any Microsoft stuff on my machines).
