I don't think it's a problem, as long as www.best.com continues to run
FreeBSD.  Lucky for you they do now:

You're in my boat.  You can ask in hackers@freebsd.org for programming
bits.  Or, we need document writers and support people as much as
programmers!  Check out the Handbook and freebsd-doc@freebsd.org mailing
list for how to help with documentation.  Tune into the
freebsd-questions@freebsd.org list or the newsgroup
comp.os.unix.freebsd.misc (?) for first-line support.

Your pascal will help you for structure but not for programming; Unix uses
pretty much exclusively C, not even much assember except for kernel bits.
