If it is, you might try copying the port to a local disk. I've recently been unable to build anything that uses Imake, including XFree86, from my NFS mounted /usr/ports, but if I export a copy of the port to a local directory everything works fine. -- I've always wanted to be a dilettante, but I've never quite been ready to make the commitment.
