Hi, it is as simple as that: The patches work with XFree-3.3.3.1 without any problem. They will not (not!) work with older versions. To use them, you need the current x11/XFree86 port. Please make sure that your Makefile is: # $Id: Makefile,v 1.52 1999/01/27 18:32:15 fenner Exp $ If all this is given, patch --index-first will give no errors whatsoever, the build will run completely fine and you'll get a useable SVGA server.
