Yes, the _ is indeed invalid. See the domain naming convention policies on rs.internic.net. The only legal characters now are the letters A through Z, the dash (-) and the digits 0 through 9. Your version of bind is correctly thinking that the name with the _ is bogus. Someone needs to send a nice letter explaining this to the mcafee sysadmins!
