I start using the 'startxfce4' command directly.
I just tried renaming the ~/.config directory, and then 'startxfce4'
to start with a default configuration.
Still no icons in the panel.
Also, I get this error when clicking on the "Applications Menu" in panel 1:
File "menus/xfce-applications.menu" not found
