Maske sure you´re doing everything in the correct order. The ssinstall
documentation should guide you quite well.
Are you using "Novice" installation?

Type "-c" at the boot: prompt and check if your cdrom is properly configured in
the visual utility by typing "vi".
The CDROM interface should show up under "Storage".
