Subject: NFS Client - Portmap required?

Is portmap required if I'm running NFS only as a client?

Personally I don't run it and NFS works. I've even found some
documentation which says you do not have to run Portmap.

However, some other people seem to think it is required. And they've
found documentation which suggests such.

So, who is right?
