On my main samba server, all users are members of group 'user',
and I run a script every 5 minutes from the root cron:
============
#!/bin/sh
SMBDIR=/usr/share/samba
for I in eis hr gl fr ross app/bmsfw/db
do
find $SMBDIR/$I -exec chmod g+w {} \;
done
