I'd guess that you forgot the -g on the 'strip' command. Try this: $ nm /kernel|grep dumpdev kernel: no symbols If you get the 'no symbols' message, then you've accidentally stripped the kernel completely. In that case, go back and re-strip the kernel with -g and reinstall it. You don't need to reboot. You will need to reissue the 'dumpon' command (tell it the name of the dump device).
