i've just set up an UMAX ASTRA 1220S with a FreeBSD box. it's a nifty little thing we have here, we scan stuff using the sane drivers directly into the gimp and use it for web stuff. i have 4.0-CURRENT on that box 'cause i wanted the new CAM SCSI interface. don't know if it would work on 2.2.8, but i guess it would. one thing's for sure: none of the parallel scanners will work, get a SCSI scanner. One more thing, you probably want to get a supported SCSI card since most of the cards that ship with scanners are weird and usually don't work. regards, -oscar To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
